Anyone who lives in Sydney knows of the beautiful Darlinghurst boutique Desordre— run by Shannon Thomas and her good friend Lucinda. Their unique blog (you can visit here) and their quirky Facebook ensures we are never one step behind this dynamic duo and the latest trends to hit the Desordre store. This week we talked to Shannon about her personal style and took a look inside her amazing closet.

Personal Style.

Depends on how I feel that day, usually pretty sleek and simple with influences from living by the beach. I love to be comfortable, but have a downfall for beautiful heels.

Her Problem With Blue.

I bought up big on the colour BLUE last season, and have also ordered more this coming season. I will probably be the Blue lady whenever you see me.

Desordre.

We pride ourselves on being the boutique where you can find special, exclusive pieces. We work on colour ways and styles with designers that are made in small quantities. You can find something to wear to a wedding, the club, the beach or the city… Everything in store we love and would wear, so you aren’t buying something that hasn’t been OK’d by both Lucy and myself. We don’t buy much black because we do like to stand out in the crowd! I particularly love styling unexpected pieces together.

I would describe the ‘Desordre girl’ as confident and comfortable with herself, she is not afraid to wear cutting edge trends.

Style Icons.

Diane Kruger, Kate Moss, Miroslava Dama’s just become a stand out! And although I’m way too tall to be able to wear the top as dress style I love her originality. Christine Centenera makes anything look cool. I also love Elin Kling from Sweden…I find everyday style inspiration from street style blogs such as Jak and Jil and Stockholm Street Style.

Trends For A/W 2012

I’m a huge fan of the blazer and bomber jacket. Always. Jackets are my winter downfall. SHEER Silk, and shirts. Head to toe matching suits I love love love! Big chunky jumpers (LILYA has the most amazing jumper i have ordered in TWO colours. pink and green) PINK. Pastel and bright. Pointy boots. Designer runners (so comfy!) Gee, I guess I like a lot?

Favourite Labels.

My wardrobe seems to consist a lot of— Lilya, Ellery, Dion lee, Kimberly Ovitz, Aje and Josh Goot. Classic pieces yet each of these designers carry really different styles. Also Dean Quinn is going to be my go-to for that ‘special’ outfit. An amazing label we picked up at NYFW in September. AESA is covering all of my jewellery needs— they are Amazing.

Where She Shops.

I find I don’t really need to shop anywhere else! I like looking online for cool vintage pieces though, such as the hand made flares on Novella Royale (I’m looking at scooping up a pair of those soon). Skin care I go to Kiehls. I scope markets for eclectic accessories.

Favourite Pieces.

I always wear a big chunky vintage ring and live in my Ellery and Dion Lee bras. I know it’s standard to always be wearing accessories/underwear, Ha but with me everything else varies day to day. In cooler weather I love wearing my  black skinny jeans.

Most Recent Purchase.

Other than pieces in store, my last indulgent purchase was a pair of Alexander Wang heels in New York and a Comme De Garcon fluoro wallet… I also just got a fluoro Hot Pink Josh Goot sleeveless shirt. I might wear that tonight!

Beauty Advice.

I love natural beauty. I hate too much makeup! Tinted moisturiser, bronzer and a little cream blush. I only wear eye makeup if i’m going out at night. Then I recommend the usual— water, wash face (I use Kiehls) I love eye creams and hand creams. I moisturise my body morning and night and always exfoliate…

What She Can’t Live Without.

MAC MYTH lipstick. I’m lost when I run out, I end up using concealer on my lips instead. And my iphone. I don’t know how I used to work without it? I can blog, take photos (how great is instagram?!) answer emails, instantly send photos to overseas customers… music. Seriously it changed my life. If only the battery lasted longer!
